Justice League of America and The Beast

The Beast had such a great look up until Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely decided to give him a makeover.  That cat-like design didn't last too long, and while his current appearance is a bit of an improvement, It's just a bit too generic looking for me.  Give me the classic hairline of the Avengers-era Beast again!

Absolutely prefer the classic look although it is probably more difficult to do on TV. Grant Morrison likes to do things 'different' to make him stand off but it is often not so much different but weird like putting a ring thru nose like a bull.

Personally I rather like the way he looked in X-Men: Last Stand; Kelsey Grammer's performance was, in my opinion, underappreciated. (Plus, I always love seeing a bestial figure in a snappy suit.) That film also blew away my disbelief in Hank's habit of long-winded speech while fighting. In those and so many other ways that film made Beast seem much more believable.

As to this cover, I kind of wish this was a "Part One" tale because I'd be really curious about why Beast is declining so adamantly, and why the League seem so ready to use force on him! Yeah, you'd have me wanting to pick this issue up, just for that.

I'm with @Bob Greenwade on that point; We need an explanation why The Beast would diss the JLA like that. Prefer the classic look myself as well that classic logo.

The beast is clearly still holding a grudge after the events of STF #525, when he got kicked off the satellite:

The cover nicely answers the question: Fantastic Beast, where to find him?

@ Ross: he's probably being mind-controlled by the Puppet Master.

I agree with the mind-control scenario, by PM or whomever. Hank is smart enough to know he wouldn't stand a chance against any ONE of the Leaguers shown here, never mind all five!

Heck, Diana could probably just lasso him, and the lasso's truth spell would break the mind control.

Or J'onn could do it with his telepathy.k

I don't know how that final "k" got there. :P
