The Fantastic Four and Transformers

The latest Transformers film is out, and for me it is hard to get excited about it after the second two installments in the franchise, which I found to be noisy messes with juvenile humor.  The addition of Mark Wahlberg and the Dinobots originally had me a bit interested, but the movie's reported 2 hour 20 minute run time and lackluster reviews have convinced me that it will be a rental at most.  I'm sure the film will make boatloads of money though, so I don't think Michael Bay is too worried about my  lack of support.

I couldn't tell the robots apart in the first film, and haven't bothered with any of the others. The concept of Transformers is too daft for me anyway.

Great cover, and yes the Bay Transformer flicks are shit.

This new film just clinches it for me--we need a new director and writer, and the robots must be the stars of the show.

great cover. but I have to ask, back in the 80s when marvel comics had the transformers, why didn`t this crossover happen for real? all we really got was a one-time cameo by spider-man.

There was a Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover at Marvel, but after combining their characters with licensed work in the past (Godzilla, ROM, Micronauts, Shogun Warriors, not to mention Doc Savage, etc.), the headaches that arise over reprinting those stories after the licenses expire meant that they would only team up super-heroes with characters they bought outright or ancillary characters created by Marvel for the supporting casts.

The 2:20 run time does not put me off a film; in fact, I'd rather have one that took its time to tell its story. If I'm going to pay that much for a movie ticket, I want to get my money's worth! But for the same reason, the tepid reviews gives me pause. I think I'll wait for the DVD.

While I agree with you as far as the juvenile humor in Michael Bay's Transformers films, Ross, what's really killed these films for me is John Turturro. His performances on Monk were spot-on, and I've rarely been disappointed by him anywhere else, but here he just gets on my nerves.

The sound quality of the current "Transformers 4" certainly sucks in 2-D, as opposed to 3-D. And, I say that as the result of having to go see it a second time due to my negative experience with the first! On the whole, however, I give it seven out of ten, at worst. It wasn't as good as the first three films. But, it was undeniably WAY better than the series premiere of "The Last Ship!"

Nuff said.

There was something similar in the New Avengers/Transformers book a few years ago hinting the Quinjet was a Transformer.
Anyway. Disney needs to buy Hasbro, put Transformers, GI Joe and the rest back into the Marvel Universe, then do this for reals.

LOVE to see this team up!

Especially in the post Secret Wars day with She-Hulk in the FF. John Bryne art too, awesome cover!

Wait if it is a Decepticon sleeper agent. Does that mean the Fantasticar is also not entirely aware of their own deception? Of course, I'm looking closer at Optimus and I notice his forearms are blue not red, his waist details and helmet crest are red not yellow and his eyes are red. Perhaps this is a fake Optimus trying to frame the Fantasticar? If so do the Fantastic Four already know Optimus? I have many questions about the story.

Either way I wish this was a real issue so bad! Making stuff like this and connecting the dots the companies can't because of legal reasons is our job as fans. This must be made!
